 15. Hopi Kachina Hunters
Kachina Hunters and bear mural
Mural Depiction

Seen here are two Kachina Hunters searching for their prey. Following the bear tracks we can see the bear they are tracking on the next wall.

Background Information

A Kachina is a spirit being in Pueblo religious beliefs of the Hopi Native American cultures of southwestern United States.

The Kachina concept has different aspects:

  • A supernatural being.

  • Kachina dancers, masked members of the community who represent Kachinas at religious ceremonies.

  • Small Kachina dolls carved in the likeness of Kachinas and given as gifts to children.
